Recent Arrests for Rape and a Separate Arrest on Drug Charges

In February of 2024, an underage female came into the Booneville Police Department and reported that she was sexually assaulted by Dustin Canada, 37, of the Ione community south of Booneville. Booneville Police officers determined the incident occurred outside of the city limits of Booneville in rural Logan County so they notified the Logan County Sheriff's Office who took over the case. In the course of the investigation, investigators determined there were three female victims and one of the assaults did occur within Booneville. The Booneville Police Department was brought back into the investigation as well as the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division. The victims were interviewed by trained child forensic interviewers at one of the Children's Advocacy Center of Arkansas. Some of the alleged sexual abuses happened for years and one of the allegations involve Dustin providing drugs to a victim before the rape. After completing the investigation, the Logan County Sheriff's Office and the Booneville Police Department sent felony arrest affidavits to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office and arrest warrants were later issued. On March 28th, due to the combined efforts of our agencies, Dustin Canada, was arrested and booked into the Logan County Detention Center on the felony charges of Rape (x2) and Sexual Assault in the Second Degree.

On March 26, 2024, Investigator Howard Bates conducted a traffic stop on Paint Rock Road on a van. Russell Allen, 42, of Magazine, and Mary Williams, 38, of Booneville, were passengers in the van. Both subjects had misdemeanor warrants and were placed under arrest. Two small baggies of a crystal substance suspected of being methamphetamine with approximately 1.25 grams were found in Russell's wallet at the Detention Center. The substance was field-tested and showed a presumptive positive reaction as methamphetamine. The contraband was logged into our evidence and will be forwarded to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further testing. Russell was booked into the Detention Center on the warrant and on the anticipated felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mary was also booked in on her warrant.
