Recent Arrests - Drive-By Shooting and Possession of Meth

Calvin Keezer, 29, and Jubal Smith, 26, both of Paris, were arrested by Logan County Sheriff's Office investigators in regards to a drive-by shooting incident in November on West State Highway 288 near Roseville in north Logan County where a house and several vehicles were shot multiple times with a rifle. There were people in the house but no one was injured. The incident involved a dispute between two men over an ex-girlfriend. Our investigators and Franklin County Sheriff's Office investigators executed a search warrant at a residence near Ozark in Franklin County and recovered the rifle believed to be used in the incident. They also found large amounts of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and firearms and these items were seized by the Franklin County investigators. Calvin and Jubal are being held in the Logan County Detention Center and their anticipated charges are unlawful discharge of a weapon from a vehicle and terroristic act, both Class B felonies. The seized rifle and spent casings found at the scene will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for comparison.

Toby Tygart, 59, of Paris, was arrested on November 30th by Logan County Sheriff Office investigators at a residence on North Carbon City Road. Toby is on parole and he and his vehicle were searched pursuant to his parole search waiver. Investigator Howard Bates found three plastic bags containing crystal substances which field-tested to be methamphetamine. The bags had a combined weight of approximately 5 grams. Toby was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center and booked in for possession of a controlled substances. The bags will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for confirmation.
