Recent Arrests

03/07/2024

Here are some cases the Logan County Sheriff's Office has worked recently:

On June of 2023, the Logan County Sheriff's Office received a report of a break-in at the Cahinnio Girl Scout Camp near Ione in the southwestern part of Logan County. Several items, including a large sump pump and hose and three chainsaws, were stolen. There was also damage to their property. Their cameras captured two people forcing their way into one of the sheds and carrying out items but at the time, we were unable to identify them. In January of 2024, Logan County Sheriff's Office Patrol Sgt. Stacy Wieburg (who was not with us when we received this call last June) reviewed the photos and identified the female suspect in this case as Stephanie Elmore from Huntington. Lt. Mark Walker and Investigator Chris Langston investigated the case and learned that Melissa Williams, of Mansfield, was the other person in the photos from the break-in. Both of the females were interviewed and warrants were issued for their arrests. In February, Melissa Williams and Stephanie Elmore were arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center on charges of Commercial Burglary, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, and Theft of Property.

In early February, a residence on Patterson Bluff Road near Scranton in northeastern Logan County was broken into and tools and building supplies were stolen. The residence was unoccupied and was being restored by the owner. The next day, a family member went by the property and a truck pulled out of the property and drove off. The family member followed the truck and called the Logan County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Caleb Hyatt was dispatched to the scene and when the caller said they were driving over the Arkansas River bridge into Johnson County, Deputy Hyatt notified the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and they made a traffic stop and arrested Donnie Tubbs, 48, of Lamar. Johnson County had charges on him so they arrested him and transported him to their detention center. Logan County Sheriff's Office Investigator Chris Langston obtained a search warrant for Donnie's truck which was towed by Johnson County and he recovered stolen property from the truck. He also interviewed Donnie at the Johnson County Detention Center. We now have an arrest warrant for him and he will face charges of Residential Burglary and Theft of Property in Logan County along with similar charges in Johnson County.

In February 20, 2024, Magazine Police Chief Brett Chappell received an anonymous tip that Ronnie Kennedy, 42, was concealing a stolen boat on his property on North State Highway 116 outside of Booneville. Logan County Sheriff's Office Investigator Chris Langston investigated the case and discovered that a person had reported to the Ozark Police Department that his Bass Trail boat and trailer were stolen. Investigator Langston and Lt. Mark Walker went to the residence and found the boat and trailer behind a barn. The Hull Identification Number had been removed from the hull of the boat but they were able to identify it through other means. Ronnie Kennedy was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center and booked in on charges of Theft by Receiving, a Class D felony. He has since been released on bond.
