Search Warrant and Drug Arrests in Paris

01/23/2024

Recently, Logan County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Investigator Howard Bates opened an investigation on Nathan Ross, 32, of Paris, for receiving methamphetamine through the U.S. Mail from another state and then selling the meth in our area. Inv. Bates obtained a search warrant for Nathan's house in Paris. On January 22, 2024, members of the Logan County Sheriff's Office and the Paris Police Department prepared to execute the search warrant on Nathan's home. Nathan left his home in his vehicle just before we served the warrant and was pulled over by a Paris police officer down the street. Other Paris officers went to the stop and assisted in the search. The officers found crystal substances in individual baggies that appeared to be methamphetamines in Nathan's possession and in his car. In total, the three plastic baggies had an approximate weight of 21 grams. Nathan was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.

Members of the Logan County Sheriff's Office went to Nathan's home on Express Street and executed the search warrant. We found a wooden box containing a large bag of a crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamines in the box. The box was hidden in a wooden pillar in a room that also contained a small marijuana grow. There was a loaded .22 rifle beside the wooden pillar. We also located the opened cardboard box delivered to the home by the U.S. Post Office that we suspect contained the alleged methamphetamine. We also found a digital scale, a box of plastic baggies, and smoking devices. Paris officers also assisted in this search.

Dally Chan, 27, and her three children, who all live in the home, were present when we executed the search warrant. The Arkansas Department of Human Services was notified and came to the house. Dally was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center.

All contraband was transported to the Logan County Sheriff's Office. The crystal substance was field-tested and showed a presumptive positive reaction as methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 3.14 ounces. The rifle was turned over to an agent with the 15th Judicial District Drug Task Force. All contraband was logged and secured into evidence. The crystal substance and scales will be forwarded to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further testing.

Nathan Ross was booked into the Detention Center on the following presumptive charges: Possession of Methamphetamines with Purpose to Deliver; Maintaining a Drug Premises; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Purpose to Manufacture; Possession of a Schedule IV with Purpose to Deliver; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms; Distributing Drugs within 1,000 of Certain Facilities (a daycare); and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (x3).
