05/24/2023

Last month, Sheriff Jason Massey attended the five-day National Sheriff's Institute Jail Administration Course at the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia. This class was fully paid for by the National Institute of Corrections and twenty-three Sheriffs from across the country attended the course. This included Sheriffs from Alabama, New York, Wisconsin, California, Tennessee, Montana, Arizona, and others and included Sheriffs with jails with under a 100 beds to Sheriffs with jails that hold 1000s of inmates. This course focused on such topics as the Sheriff's role in a jail, legal implications of operating a jail, supporting jail operations, and critical aspects of jail operations. The course consisted of classroom, small groups, and group presentations. Through this course, the Sheriffs were able to network with each other and exchange ideas.
