Guilty Plea on a Sexual Abuse Case

03/24/2023

Christopher Huggins, 36, of the Delaware community, pled guilty on March 17th to two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, both Class A felonies, and received 20 years in state prison for each sentence.  The two sentences are to be served consecutively which means he will serve a total of 40 years in prison on these charges.

On April 27, 2021, Logan County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Kieth Lunsford received a report of sexual abuse in the Delaware community from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division.  Delaware is an unincorporated community in eastern Logan County.  This report came from a disclosure by an 11-year-old victim to a school counselor and Lt. Lunsford obtained a search warrant for the home of Christopher Huggins on Delaware Bay Road.  Christopher is an adopted relative of the victim.  DNA evidence and digital evidence from cameras were collected through the search warrant.  Lt. Lunsford also obtained a computer and Christopher's cell phone.  All of the evidence was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.  Christopher was arrested on the same day (April 27, 2021) and has remained in our Detention Center since.  Through our investigation, it was learned that the abuse was going on for many years.

He will remain the Detention Center until he is transported to the Arkansas Department of Corrections to serve his 40 years in prison.  He will have to register as a sex offender when he is released.  We give a big thanks to Lieutenant Kieth Lunsford for his dedicated work on this very emotional and hard case.
