This afternoon, the Logan County Sheriff's Office received a call about a verbal disturbance at a residence on Cravens Lane in the New Blaine area in eastern Logan County. While a deputy sheriff was in route, we received a call that shots were fired at the same residence. The deputy and an Arkansas state trooper, who was in the area, arrived and found Michael Wheeler, 38, who lived at the residence, dead of apparent gunshot wounds. The suspect was present and the firearm was recovered. The death is being investigated by investigators from the Logan County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of special agents from the Arkansas State Police. They obtained a search warrant for the property and seized evidence. The Logan County Coroner took possession of the body and the body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. The suspect was transported to the Logan County Sheriff's Office and is being questioned.
