Funeral for Richard Arndt

We attended a funeral service today in Paris for a local American hero. Richard "Dick" Arndt, of Paris, who passed away on January 23rd at the age of 90, served locally as a Paris Police Officer and Paris Police Chief and as a Logan County Deputy Sheriff and as a Chief Deputy.
 
Dick was born in 1931 and served our country in the United States Army in the Korean War where he was awarded a Purple Heart and in the Vietnam War where he received two Bronze Stars. After Vietnam, he moved to Benton, Arkansas where he help start the Jr. ROTC program at the Benton High School. He eventually moved to Paris where he served in the Paris Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff's Office for many years. He was a full-time Deputy Sheriff up into his 80s when he retired!!
 
Dick was a kind yet stern man and well-liked in the law enforcement community. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Paris and usually greeted everyone who entered. We will miss you!
