Drug and Arson Arrest

04/29/2024

On April 24, 2024, Logan County Sheriff's Office Investigator Howard Bates conducted a traffic stop in Paris on a vehicle driven by Douglas Nelson, 37, of Magazine, for driving on a suspended driver's license. Paris Police Chief Jared Petz assisted him on the traffic stop.  They found a plastic bag containing approximately 26 grams of a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamines.  The crystal substance was field-tested and showed a presumptive positive for methamphetamines.  They also located a box containing drug paraphernalia that appeared to be used for methamphetamines. Douglas was arrested and transported to the Logan County Detention Center and booked in on the anticipated charges of Possession of Methamphetamines, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving with a Suspended Driver's License.  Douglas was also booked in on the anticipated charge of arson due to a fire investigation where a house that Douglas lived in recently burned down on Reveille Valley Road between Magazine and Paris.  He is incarcerated with a $50,000.00 bond.
